The first few days after thinking about a business idea can be nostalgic, we really feel the potential of our idea, we have thoughts of how and where we could run it and the successes we may have. After a couple of days, doubts may set in and this may be because the business idea doesn’t carry enough weight and you haven’t thought about it carefully enough or it could just be fear and lack of knowledge about what to do next. Many business ideas are abandoned when they could potentially go on to be very successful but the next steps including the planning, research and logistics of the idea are too hard to negotiate for many and the idea is quickly left to fizzle out. This makes many feel like they could have been successful if they knew how which is a shame in many instances.
Its never advisable to carry on with a business idea through nostalgia alone and research and planning is essential but we often underestimate the need to listen to our inner self about the business idea we have. The passion, drive and ideas we have should all be listened to because these are what are going to give your idea grounding.
The year 2018 carries on with the theme of diversity and change allowing for many ideas to break through the clouds and become a reality and this is because in many industries there are step changes taking place where industries are realizing that a one size does not fit all and discovering niche ideas within industries are serving a portion of the market successfully. The beauty industry is one such industry where the big players are celebrating diversity across race, gender and age. The larger beauty brands have already embraced what they call the inclusive range which encourages diversity and targets specific groups including age, race and gender with great success. We no longer live in an age where beauty is a one size fits all and through changing the way we view what beautiful means in society, larger brands are targeting niche markets with great success.
One market that is doing incredibly well is age inclusive beauty where women over 50 can explore and express their changing make up choices using color cosmetics which is allowing them to both celebrate and experiment with cosmetics in a way they wouldn’t have done five years ago.
This change in the market doesn’t just include the big players within the market but also includes smaller home businesses who appreciate the change in the market and have a great business idea. Many new and emerging Blogs are breaking through targeting a specific topic within the beauty industry. Many of the subjects being explored on new and emerging blogs are age diversity, concentrating on the beauty industry for the over 50’s. Others include topics covering transgender makeup and discussing feminizing makeup for trans women.
The same goes for other industries including the Fashion industry where larger brands are ditching the idea that we are all the same and embracing change. This is making way for niche businesses to emerge into the market exploring a specific market which may include women who are a certain shape, size or height. Many business ideas are born through experience and change and all business ideas set out to solve a problem along the way. Many through their own experience of finding clothes that fit properly have founded their own ranges targeting a specific part of the market. Another emerging market is Maternity wear and gone are the days when Maternity wear was only available from certain retailers, large brands now cater for Maternity wear but other niche businesses have also solved the problem of finding the right maternity wear for either smaller or taller women by starting their own range.
Many worry about targeting a specific market because they are confining their product to a certain area and not being broad enough but this is the very reason many of the business ideas surrounding diversity are doing so well and this is certainly set to continue.
