Mothers know only too well what its like to feel guilty where their Children are concerned, we feel guilty if we work or if we put our Children in Nursery but that guilt is also sadness at times because we want to see our Children grow up and we want to be able to have to time to do that. Many Mothers have to work and the choice is simply not there, others want to work part of the time but can’t find a suitable job that fits in around Childcare, whatever your struggle, we will all identify with feelings of failure in some form or another.
The clichéd work from home business is not always as perfect as it often sounds, having a home office, working around Childcare is simply not the reality some websites make it out to be but whilst its hard to achieve, its not impossible as long as you allow yourself to let go of ideals because they don’t exist.
Many co-working spaces are opening up especially in London but Mothers still struggle to find flexi work that allows them to work and meet parental demands, whilst many employers in the UK openly embrace Flexi-Time some Companies haven’t and others find it more difficult, it is then when Mothers struggle to return to work, pay Childcare fees and pick up their career where they left it.
Many countries have a higher rate of working from home businesses than the UK but there is also more flexibility in some other Countries with the focus firmly on Mothers and getting back into work or starting their own business. Olesya Kashaeva from Russia recognized this real struggle and decided to do something about it. (The Way of Life) foundation was born and its main aim was to make getting back into work easier and more accessible. After taking her own Son back into the work place as she had no alternative choice, she had an idea about a co-working space for New Mothers. The first space was created in Moscow with the help of a Grant and whilst the venture is a foundation rather than a money making scheme, it offers New Mothers access to not only Childcare but further education and resources.
In the UK we are in desperate need for co-working spaces which offer new Mothers the chance to access the service free for the first few months whilst they get their business started, they also need access to resources, Childcare and support. There is a massive business opportunity for anyone that can incorporate this business idea which initially offers the service free and then brings in small charges later on.
Having Children opens up doors we never knew were hidden and analyzing your daily lives can be the gateway to new business ideas. How many of us have thought of a business idea as a new Mom whilst struggling to find something they really need. Mary Smallwood designed her own handbag for just this purpose after having Children. The gap in the market for a versatile handbag that you can take shopping or go on a night out was definitely there and Mary decided to invent one. The Nexus Handbags was born, made of Leather and available in five colors, see here.
Many new Mothers have a business idea based around their children whether that be a favorite food idea for picky eaters or a new design Child Carry sling. Many who have potential business ideas often dismiss them which is a real shame, how many would pursue them if they had the resources and contacts with which to get help, could you come up with a business idea that incorporates all of that.
