Working from home often sounds like a nostalgic existence, think of a business idea and spend the rest of your days looking after the Children and working in between. Working from home for set hours and making your own rules sounds very appealing and solves a lot of problems. There is an abundance of information on the internet giving ideas, inspiration and even business solutions that promise you can earn a certain amount in a twelve -month period but what if none of it appeals and you simply don’t know what you want or can do but are certain that being your own boss and having the flexibility to work from home is for you.
There are many ideas but along with the business ideas you need determination, funding and a business plan but first you have to know what you are going to do. Sandra Lee a Chinese Expat living in Australia is part of what some are describing as a Global Phenomenon and her job is simply selling Australian goods to Chinese people, some would describe her as a professional Shopper.
One of the most important parts of the job is making the contacts and many do this by particular social messaging Apps between the Country you are selling to and yourself. Personal shoppers often carry an air of sophistication and carry out roles working for many large retailers, including sophisticated boutique’s where personal shoppers were working for individuals but the role has evolved and changed over time. Laurie Ely started her own Personal Shopper role independently and working from home. Laurie Ely worked from home whilst trying to earn money and look after her three Children. The service predominately involved Grocery Shopping for Elderly residents and quickly grew. It grew to not only a Personal shopping role but other roles too such as house hold Chores and general odd jobs.
As the internet continues to grow and contacts worldwide are made, the opportunities to be a personal shopper continue to grow and it is as simple as being able to provide something that someone needs and has no current access to. This can often be specialist items such as food stuffs, cosmetics, confectionary or drinks which are not available in your particular area. Whilst the term Personal Shopper has always largely included Clothes Retail, the internet and our reach is opening up new business opportunities and people are taking them.
Many Epats living in various locations still want to source products from home but often its expensive and they don’t receive the right products. If they find a Personal Shopper who has several or more customers, they can often deliver cheaper and if they are good at what they do they will also deliver the right products which is very much what people are looking for, reliability and sourcing the right products at the right price.
