We are literally overflowing with unwanted Clothes whether that be Children’s or adults Clothes and in todays throw away Quick fashion, you can quickly understand why. We may see an online design or current trend, purchase for a good price before discarding to the back of the wardrobe after a couple of outings. We then replace these items with more of the same and all of these unwanted materials end up at the recycling plant or simply thrown away.
What can we do with unwanted clothes and what Business opportunities means we can use good materials and use them for a created business idea. Many are already doing just that and making the most amazing created bags from recycled and unwanted materials, some of the best designs are commonly sold and advertised through websites such as Ebay, Pinterest, Facebook and Shopify with success.
Other items such as Wallets, Backpacks, Purses, Tote Bags and travel bags also typically work really well using creative designs and recycled materials especially if you have an eye for what materials really work well together.
What do you need to be able to professionally make these items good enough for resale and what is required. The first thing you need is an eye for design and a passion for working with lots of materials and being able to envisage these materials together in the style of bag or item you are working with.
Some of the more popular materials are the stronger materials such as Denim which works really well for hand Bags, other designs and bags which are highly popular and sought after are shopping bags which are relatively simple to use. Other items will be needed such as Zips, studs etc depending on your design and of course a Sewing machine will be needed.
There are many more business opportunities using recycled materials such as recycled plastic bottles and Cans and realistically any materials can be used together to make your designs.
If you are not used to sewing, don’t consider yourself particularly Arty or Design focused, make the bags for personal use or Family and friends until you are confident in your products. Those that are nifty on a Sewing machine, have a real creative edge should definitely consider having a go at making your own bespoke bags for resale.
We all love a new bag and purchase them as often as we do Clothes and if you can start with a few different designs, people are always looking for something just a little bit
